Nutrition International (NI) is global nutrition organization with headquarters in Canada. Founded in 1992, NI is dedicated to deliver proven nutrition interventions to those who need them most. NI has been working in Pakistan since 2000, in partnership with national and provincial government, on large scale nutrition programs with a vision to eradicate hidden hunger and nourish lives. Nutrition International has been supporting the government of Pakistan in the institutionalization of mandatory edible oil and wheat flour fortification across the country. The project is intended to improve the micronutrient intake of the population of Pakistan, particularly adolescent girls, and women of reproductive age, through production and institutionalization of adequately fortified wheat flour with iron, folic acid, zinc, and vitamin B12, and adequately fortified edible oil with vitamins A and D. The key objectives of this Large-Scale Food Fortification (LSFF) program is to build the technical and human resource capacity of public sector food regulatory bodies, and private producers to implement, scale up, and sustain food fortification initiatives to address micronutrient deficiencies.
