The position will directly report to CEO and indirectly reports to Head- Communication & Media. The position will serve as the lead resource supporting executive visibility, strategic communication planning, high-level stakeholder engagement, and thought leadership positioning, while closely working with Head of Communications & Media, the CEO, senior management programme teams and external partners.
The purpose of this position is to strengthen the institutional profile, strategic visibility, though leadership, public influence thorugh coordinated executive communications, proactive media engagement, evidence leading story telling and high level stakeholder engagement.
The duration of this position will be initially six(6) months extendible for longer period.
The incumbent will perform the following functions:
A. Executive Communications and Leadership Positioning
- Serve as the principal resource supporting executive communications and institutional positioning initiatives.
- Research, draft, edit, and coordinate executive communication products, including speeches, keynote addresses, talking points, forewords, opinion articles, presentations, media statements, correspondence, and strategic messages.
- Support the preparation of the CEO and senior management for conferences, public events, media appearances, policy dialogues, donor engagements, and other high-profile platforms.
- Ensure consistency of messaging and institutional positioning across all executive communications.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the visibility and profile of organization leadership within national and international development discourse.
B. Strategic Media Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with priority journalists, editors, producers, media executives, development correspondents, and opinion writers.
- Identify and facilitate opportunities for media engagement, executive interviews, media briefings, editorial board meetings, and feature placements.
- Support the implementation of organization's Media, Journalist and Public Voice Engagement Strategy.
- Develop media engagement plans linked to major institutional moments, flagship publications, research products, campaigns, and policy priorities.
- Coordinate media responses and support strategic engagement during sensitive or high-profile issues.
C. Thought Leadership and Institutional Positioning
- Translate programme achievements, research findings, evidence, and lessons into compelling narratives for policy, media, and public audiences.
- Support the development and promotion of flagship publications, reports, policy briefs, case studies, and knowledge products.
- Coordinate executive thought leadership initiatives, including opinion articles, keynote interventions, strategic commentary, and public advocacy opportunities.
- Identify opportunities for organization to contribute to national policy discussions and development debates.
D. Strategic Stakeholder Engagement
- Support engagement with donors, government stakeholders, development partners, academia, think tanks, media institutions, and public voices.
- Identify strategic partnerships and platforms that can strengthen organization's visibility and influence.
- Facilitate high-level stakeholder outreach linked to major institutional priorities and advocacy objectives.
- Support relationship-building initiatives with priority media institutions and strategic communication partners.
E. Reputation Management and Strategic Counsel
- Monitor developments that may affect organization's reputation, institutional standing, or stakeholder relationships.
- Advise the Head of Communication and Media Unit and senior management on communication risks and reputational considerations.
- Support the development of response strategies during periods of heightened public attention or reputational sensitivity.
- Contribute to crisis communication planning and institutional response mechanisms where required.
F. Internal Coordination and Capacity Building
- Work closely with programme teams, research functions, MEAL teams, and communication personnel to ensure consistent institutional positioning.
- Support stronger integration between communication, advocacy, knowledge management, and programme delivery functions.
- Mentor communication staff and contribute to strengthening strategic communication capacities within organization.
- Promote the use of evidence, data, and learning products in institutional communication and thought leadership efforts.
The incumbent will be expected to contribute to the following outputs:
- Annual Executive Communication and Visibility Plan.
- Executive speeches, talking points, opinion articles, presentations, and communication products.
- Strategic media engagement plans and relationship-building initiatives.
- Thought leadership products and executive positioning opportunities.
- Stakeholder engagement briefs and strategic communication recommendations.
- Periodic media and reputation analysis reports.
- Support to flagship publications, campaigns, and institutional communication initiatives.
Qualification & Experience
Advanced university degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, Development Studies, International Relations, Public Administration, Political Science, Media Studies, or a related field.
The incumbent must have the following:
- Minimum 8–10 years of progressively responsible experience in strategic communications, public affairs, journalism, media relations, executive communications, stakeholder engagement, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience supporting senior executives, institutional leaders, public officials, or high-profile organisations.
- Strong understanding of Pakistan's media landscape, development sector, public policy environment, and stakeholder ecosystem.
- Proven experience in speech writing, executive communications, media engagement, and institutional positioning.
- Experience working with development organisations, donors, government institutions, or policy-focused organisations will be an advantage.
