Job Summary

Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre (MALC) is seeking a skilled and compassionate Optometrist (Low Vision) to join its eye care team. The successful candidate will provide specialized low vision assessment, rehabilitation, and patient-centered care to enhance the functional vision and quality of life of individuals with visual impairment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and manage patients with low vision.
• Perform comprehensive low vision examinations and functional vision assessments.
• Recommend, prescribe, and train patients in the use of low vision aids, including magnifiers, telescopic systems, and other assistive devices.
• Develop individualized low vision rehabilitation plans to maximize patients' remaining vision and independence.
• Educate patients and their families on visual rehabilitation techniques and adaptive coping strategies.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, patient records, and progress reports.
• Participate in community outreach and low vision awareness activities, where required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Vision Science (BVS) from an HEC-recognized institution.
• Additional training or certification in Low Vision Care will be preferred.
• Valid professional license to practice (as per the relevant regulatory authority).
• Minimum 3–5 years of clinical optometry experience.
• Strong understanding of visual impairment, ocular diseases, low vision rehabilitation, and assistive technologies.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, patient counseling, and problem-solving skills.
