Job Summary
Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre (MALC) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Optometrist (Pediatric Eye Care / Orthoptist) to join its healthcare team. The successful candidate will provide specialized eye care services for infants, children, and adolescents, ensuring early detection, diagnosis, and management of pediatric vision disorders while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pediatric eye examinations and vision assessments.
- Diagnose and manage refractive errors, binocular vision disorders, and other pediatric visual conditions.
- Prescribe corrective lenses and develop individualized treatment plans for pediatric patients.
- Identify early signs of ocular diseases and developmental vision problems.
- Educate parents and caregivers on children's eye health, vision development, and preventive eye care.
- Collaborate with pediatricians, ophthalmologists, orthoptists, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated patient care.
- Maintain accurate patient records, clinical documentation, and reports.
- Participate in community outreach and pediatric eye health awareness activities as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Vision Science (BVS) from an HEC-recognized institution.
- Additional qualification, certification, or training in Pediatric Eye Care / Orthoptics will be preferred.
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant clinical experience in pediatric eye care.
- Strong knowledge of pediatric vision care, orthoptic assessment, and child-friendly examination techniques.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient counseling skills.
