1. Introduction/Background
Pakistan Mission Society (PMS) intends to engage a qualified consultant/consulting firm to design and deliver practical, participatory training sessions for relevant project stakeholders, including teachers, school children, Green Club members and/or other identified participants. The training will strengthen understanding and practical application of solid waste management (SWM), source segregation, the 5Rs (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose and Recycle), and climate action with a focus on mitigation and adaptation. The assignment will translate environmental concepts into practical actions that can be implemented at school and community level. The consultant will ensure that training content is age-appropriate where children participate, locally relevant, interactive and aligned with the project's environmental and climate-action objectives.
2. Objectives
- Build participants' knowledge of environmentally responsible solid waste management and practical SWM best practices.
- Improve understanding and application of source segregation, including separation of waste at the point of generation.
- Promote the 5Rs Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose and Recycle as practical everyday actions.
- Strengthen participants' understanding of climate change, local impacts, climate mitigation and climate adaptation.
- Enable participants to identify practical climate-action measures for schools and communities.
- Develop capacity to promote cleaner, safer and more climate-resilient school environments.
- Equip teachers/Green Clubs and focal persons with practical messages and activities that can be cascaded to children and communities.
3. Scope of Work
A. Preparation and Coordination
- Review project background and materials provided by PMS.
- Hold an inception/coordination meeting to confirm target participants, number of sessions, venues, language and schedule.
- Prepare a training plan, agenda and session methodology.
B. Training Material Development
- Develop/adapt presentations, exercises and visual aids on SWM, source segregation, 5Rs, climate mitigation and climate adaptation.
- Prepare practical demonstrations, evidence-based example and practical demonstrations for the better understanding of the students for waste segregation and 5R application.
- Ensure materials are simple, clear, age-appropriate and locally relevant.
C. Training Delivery
- Conduct the agreed training sessions using participatory and practical methods.
- Cover SWM best practices, source segregation, safe waste handling and recycling.
- Demonstrate the 5Rs through school and household examples.
- Explain climate mitigation versus adaptation and connect both with everyday actions.
- Use group work, discussions, quizzes, demonstrations and action-planning exercises.
- Address participant questions and provide practical recommendations.
D. Follow-up and Reporting
- Conduct simple pre-/post-training knowledge checks where appropriate.
- Collect participant feedback and document key observations.
- Prepare a concise final report covering sessions, participants, methodology, assessment results, challenges, lessons learned and recommendations.
- Submit final training materials and editable electronic copies to PMS.

6. Methodology
The consultant will use an interactive, participatory and practical methodology combining short presentations with demonstrations, group discussions, case examples, quizzes, role plays, practical waste-segregation exercises and school-level action planning. Where children participate, the consultant should use child-friendly language, visuals and activities. The consultant will coordinate with PMS and incorporate reasonable feedback before delivery.
7. Selection Criteria
- Individual consultant or consulting firm with relevant education in climate change, environmental sciences or equivalent.
- Individual consultant or consulting firm legally eligible to provide professional training/consultancy services in Pakistan.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience environmental science, environmental management, climate change, natural resource management, education, development studies or related field Relevant.
- Demonstrated experience in SWM, environmental education, climate change, climate action and/or community/school-based training.
- Experience designing and facilitating participatory training for teachers, children, youth, communities or development-sector stakeholders.
- Ability to develop clear, practical and visually engaging training materials.
- Strong communication, facilitation, reporting and coordination skills.
- Fluency in Pashto and Urdu; knowledge of local languages (Kohistani) of the target area will be Preferred.

10. Technical Proposal

11. Financial Proposal
The financial proposal should provide a clear and itemized professional fee and any applicable costs required to complete the assignment. Taxes and other applicable charges should be clearly stated. Any reimbursable costs should be separately identified and incurred only with prior approval from PMS.
12. Payment Terms
Payment will be made against satisfactory completion and acceptance of agreed deliverables, subject to PMS financial and procurement procedures. Indicative structure: 30% upon approval of the training plan/materials and 70% upon satisfactory completion of the training sessions and submission/acceptance of the final report.
