Job description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and ethical Assistant Internal Auditor to support the internal audit function of our organization. This role is key to ensuring transparency, accountability, and donor compliance across our programs and field operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial controls and a commitment to safeguarding organizational resources in line with donor and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and conducting internal audits of head office and field/project offices in line with the annual audit plan
  • Review financial transactions, procurement processes, and program expenditures for compliance with organizational policies and donor guidelines.
  • Verify that project funds are utilized in accordance with grant agreements and budgets
  • Document audit findings, prepare working papers, and draft audit reports with clear, actionable recommendations
  • Support investigations into suspected fraud, misuse of funds, or policy violations
  • Follow up on the implementation of corrective actions from previous audits and donor audit findings
  • Assist in preparing for external/donor audits and statutory audits
  • Liaise and coordinate with relevant government officials and departments as required for compliance, regulatory reporting, or field-level audit matters
  • Travel to field/project locations as required to conduct on-site reviews

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 1–2 years of experience in internal audit, finance, or compliance — NGO/development sector experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with donor compliance requirements and grant/fund management principles is a plus
  • Proficiency in Sindhi (spoken and written) is required, in addition to Urdu and English
  • Comfortable engaging and coordinating with government officials and local authorities as part of field/compliance work
  • Strong analytical and report-writing skills with high attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Excel; familiarity with accounting softwares.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and willingness to travel to field locations
  • Ability to work independently and interact professionally with program, field, and government staff
