Position Overview

ACT International is seeking a qualified and experienced Head of Health and Nutrition to provide strategic and technical leadership across its Health and Nutrition portfolio.

The position will lead sectoral strategy, strengthen programme quality, provide technical guidance to project teams, contribute to resource mobilization and proposal development, and promote evidence-based programming in alignment with national health priorities and international technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and technical leadership for ACT's Health and Nutrition portfolio.

• Ensure alignment of programmes with national health and nutrition policies, organizational priorities, and international standards.

• Identify emerging sectoral needs, public health risks, and opportunities for programme development.

• Collaborate with the Program Development Unit (PDU) in developing concept notes, proposals, Theories of Change (ToC), and technical approaches.

• Provide technical oversight and guidance to Project and Provincial Managers to ensure programme quality and effective implementation.

• Supervise and coordinate Sectoral Programme Officers and specialized technical consultants.

• Review and validate technical reports, assessments, and donor deliverables in coordination with the PMER Unit.

• Build strategic partnerships with government departments, donors, UN agencies, health institutions, and relevant sectoral stakeholders.

• Represent ACT in relevant health and nutrition working groups, coordination forums, and technical networks.

• Promote learning, innovation, and evidence-based improvements across health and nutrition interventions.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Master's degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Health Systems, Community Health, or a relevant discipline, preferably following an MBBS qualification.

• Minimum 8–10 years of progressive professional experience in health and/or nutrition programming, technical programme management, or public health.

• At least 4 years of experience in a senior technical leadership position within an international or national NGO.

• Proven experience in developing technical proposals, Theories of Change, strategic plans, and programme designs.

• Strong understanding of community-based health and nutrition programming, preventive healthcare, health promotion, and relevant national policies.

• Demonstrated experience in technical oversight across the programme lifecycle, including design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and learning.

• Familiarity with donor requirements, particularly those of UN agencies and international institutional donors.
