Field Physiotherapist (Emergency Response)





General mission


The Physiotherapist will support INGO Field emergency response programs by identifying Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) & functional limitations, providing rehabilitation and assistive technology (AT) services, and caregiver education. The position involves direct service delivery, capacity building, and community engagement to promote inclusive access to rehabilitation services.  The Physiotherapist will report to the Project Manager/coordinator.


Missions/responsibilities


Mission 1: Functional Rehabilitation 

  • Identify and assess people with disabilities and functional limitations in target communities.

  • Deliver physiotherapy services to individuals with rehabilitation needs.

  • Support the selection, fitting, and adjustment of assistive devices, ensuring quality and suitability.

  • Provide training to people with disabilities and their families on the correct use of assistive devices.

  • Establish and maintain referral pathways with relevant service providers across health, rehabilitation, and social sectors.

  • Conduct follow-up visits to monitor progress and ensure effective use of services/devices.


Mission 2: Reporting & Documentation

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to strengthen rehabilitation referral mechanisms.

  • Compile and submit monthly reports on rehabilitation activities to supervisors and M&E units.

  • Maintain accurate client files and regularly update digital and physical databases.

  • Document lessons learned, case studies, and success stories as required.


Mission 3: Training & Capacity building

  • Train project staff, community workers, and volunteers on rehabilitation-related topics.

  • Support cross-sectoral collaboration through referrals and joint activities.

  • Monitor learning outcomes and incorporate feedback into program practices


Mission 4: Field Management & Community Engagement

  • Liaise with local partners/authorities, implementing partners, and community stakeholders.

  • Support social mobilizers/volunteers using participatory approaches.

  • Promote inclusive community mobilization and awareness-raising on disability and rehabilitation.


Mission 5: Internal & Cross-Sectoral Collaboration

  • Coordinate with other HI work streams (e.g., Inclusive Education, Protection, MHPSS) to ensure integrated service delivery and case management.

  • Refer clients to relevant internal teams for complementary services (e.g., psychosocial support, inclusive education, protection services).

  • Participate in multi-sectoral case conferences and ensure timely feedback to strengthen collaborative approaches.

  • Contribute to mainstreaming disability inclusion across all project components.
