Background: Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS, P) runs one of the largest not-for-profit private healthcare systems in the country, with a focus on the regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh. Its core focus includes initiatives for hard-to-reach populations through services like outreach clinics, training of community midwives to provide low-cost health services in remote areas, screening for non-communicable diseases, and digital health solutions.

Position Summary: Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for a competent Washer base at Aga Khan Hospital, Gilgit. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect, receive, and segregate soiled linens, patient garments, and other washable hospital items.
• Operate industrial washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and correctly.
• Follow infection control protocols in handling contaminated linens (e.g., using PPE, proper segregation, and disinfecting procedures).
• Wash, disinfect, and dry hospital laundry using appropriate detergents, disinfectants, and washing methods according to fabric and contamination level.
• Inspect washed items to ensure cleanliness, stain removal, and quality.
• Fold, iron, and store cleaned linens and uniforms as per hospital standards.
• Safely dispose of damaged or unusable items after supervisor’s approval.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the laundry area and machines.
• Report any malfunctioning equipment, shortage of supplies, or damaged linen to the supervisor.
• Keep daily records of laundry load, washing cycles, and stock.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Primary

• 6 Months Experience
• Basic knowledge of infection control, hygiene, and safe handling of contaminated materials.
• Physically fit and able to handle heavy loads and stand for long hours.
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain attention to detail.
• Good hygiene practices and discipline in following hospital protocols.

Working Conditions:

• Hospital laundry unit environment.
• Frequent handling of contaminated linen and exposure to detergents, disinfectants, and heat.
• Use of protective gear (gloves, masks, aprons, etc.) is mandatory.
• Requires lifting, bending, and long hours of standing.
