JOB PURPOSE

 To provide support to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority):

  • Strategic: With technical support and guidance from the senior nutrition team, take the lead in developing an SBCC strategy for WFP Pakistan's work, until 2027, aligned with WFP corporate guidance and approaches and in consultation with all relevant units.  The strategy will include elements for all of the programme Activities under the Country Strategic Plan (2023-2027). Support the development of annual workplans to implement the strategy, outlining roles and responsibilities of various WFP units and partners.

  • Technical: Lead in the development of various SBCC materials and campaigns required to implement the strategy, in consultation with all relevant units and partners.  These can include for specific WFP programme activities as well as for key campaigns like Breastfeeding Month, etc. The materials and campaigns should include various tools and approaches such as interpersonal counselling, mid-media and mass media, including digital campaigns. supporting the implementation of SBCC strategies with a clear roadmap including developing the detailed implementation plans with costing.

  • Training/capacity building: Conducting training need assessments and  capacity building activities to increase the effectiveness of  SBCC activities for implementing partners, key government partners and out reach workers, CBOs, and others engaged in the projects. Develop and implement trainings for WFP staff in the country office and field offices as well as for partners, on utilization of various tools and approaches. Providing additional guidance and oversight to WFP provincial office teams and Benazir Nashonuma Facilitation Centre staff as needed.   

  • Monitoring and reporting: Prepare and share regular reports covering SBCC activities in the relevant provinces/regions. In partnership with M&E unit, develop monitoring tools, conducting regular monitoring and oversight missions. 

  • Partnerships: Coordinate with other agencies and specialists working groups on the various communication and SBCC activities to ensure synchronization of activities, harmonization of materials and  uniform messaging. When opportunities arise, work with nutrition team to prepare funding proposals for implementing the SBCC strategy. To identify and develop new partnerships at technical and strategic levels, strengthen and maintain existing partnerships on SBCC with different stakeholders, including government, civil society, academia, private sector and development partners.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 

Education: Advanced University degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Anthropology, Public health, Health & Nutrition, Social Sciences or First level University Degree with additional 2 years of related work experience in Communication, Social Marketing, or Behavior Change Communications.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of professional/managerial level experience in preparing and implementing Behavior Change Communications Programs in Pakistan including developing tools and approaches using interpersonal communication and mass media as well as digital tools; experience in implementing innovative approaches and techniques in SBCC campaigns for wider reach and impact. Work experience with the UN or INGO is an asset.

 Knowledge & Skills: Excellent knowledge of different provinces/regions and their cultures.

  • Excellent knowledge of different thematic areas (Health , Nutrition, Education, etc.) 

  • Well versed with Microsoft office.

  • Additional knowledge and skills for working in relevant Software's would be an added advantage.

Language: Oral and written communication skills in English and Urdu.

Working knowledge of provincial language is an added advantage.
