Job Description: Program Compliance Officer

 

The Compliance Officer is responsible for monitoring and evaluating various cross-functional activities performed across similar areas and identifying and supporting effective and sustainable risk management processes across the organization. Individuals will help ensure that processes comply with the regulatory requirements, policies, program requirements, and activities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Identify Operational Risks Assessment & Controls

  • Coordinate and conduct internal risk assessments and identify, assess and manage risks
  • Evaluate activities to assess compliance risks
  • Create sound internal controls and monitor adherence to them
  • Keep abreast of internal standards and business goals
  • Set plans to manage a crisis or compliance violation

Staff Orientation and Policy Enforcement:

  • Orient school staff on school policies regulations and any updates or changes therein.
  • Address employee concerns or questions on legal compliance

Compliance Audits

  • Proactively audit processes, practices, and documents to identify weaknesses
  • Ensure that school policies are implemented effectively and consistently, both in letter and spirit.
  • Recommend, develop, and implement changes to existing and proposed procedures, policies, and programs, oversee revision, reparation, and dissemination of new and updated compliance standards and procedures

Teacher Hiring Process Compliance:

  • Verify the completeness of the teacher hiring process and maintain up-to-date personnel files for all teachers.
  • Regularly check the monthly teacher payroll against the existing teachers list to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain a comprehensive list of monthly teacher hiring and firing activities, ensuring transparency and compliance with organizational guidelines.

Financial Compliance:

  • Review monthly fee registers for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with financial protocols.
  • Verify petty cash bills and reconcile them with approved expenditures, maintaining meticulous records.

 

Compliance Reporting and Action:

  • Regularly report to the Senior Manager HR regarding the school's compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Take proactive action in addressing and resolving any instances of non-compliance, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to implement corrective measures.

Requirements and skills

  • Proven experience as a Compliance Officer or Compliance Manager
  • Experience in risk management
  • Knowledge of legal requirements and controls (e.g. Anti-Money Laundering, or AML)
  • Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Integrity and professional ethics
  • Business acumen
  • Teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail
  • BSc/BA in law, finance, business administration or a related field
  • Professional certification (e.g. Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP)) is a plus
