CRS’ relief and development work are accomplished through programs of emergency response, HIV, health, agriculture, education, microfinance, and peacebuilding.

CRS has been operational in Pakistan since 1954. CRS’ relief and development work are accomplished through program of emergency response, food security/livelihood, education, and disaster risk reduction (DRR). Currently, CRS is responding to monsoon floods in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. CRS has been working with local national partners to support government led efforts for implementation of 2022 flood response and recovery in Pakistan.

 

Job Summary  

CRS is currently seeking a short-term settlement planning expert to support the "The Climate Resilient Settlement Development in Sindh Province. The role of the expert is to support in landscape planning, design visioning, and provide planning solutions to develop essential infrastructure to meet the community's immediate needs and enhance resilience against future disasters. The project encompasses sectors such as access to basic infrastructures and feasibility studies for climate-resilient, green, and innovative solutions to improve post-flood infrastructure and utilities, aiming that flood affected communities having safe, resilient, and dignified living in sustainable settlements.

 

Your technical skills and knowledge will ensure that the CP delivers high-quality programming and continuously works towards improving the impact of its programming. In addition, build the capacity of the program and partners’ staff and work closely with them to coordinate the development and implementation of the various development interventions.

 

Roles and Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Develop the live sketches of existing socio-cultural-construction components of infrastructures of the settlement integrating community’s perspective.
  • Lead the neighbor-hood design and plan in collaboration with local architecture and technical team
  • Support and guide local architect to draft the designs of infrastructure.
  • Analysis and digitization of the collected data. Preparation of Technical drawings, rendered images and testimonies
  • Support team in 3-D visualization of settlement implementation plan.
  • 3-D solutions of entire settlement plan and infrastructure designs.
  • Complete set of design of one settlement for implementation and provide technical support for other 100 settlements planning process.

 

Basic Qualifications 

 

  • Master’s in urban, spatial planning and architecture.
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in drafting and documentation of community infrastructures ideally in the construction/rehabilitation activities, preferably with an international organization. Additional experience may substitute for some education.

Basic Requirements:

  • Ability to document the existing socio-cultural orientation and design of housing, basic services and facilities.
  • Experience in heritage conservation and architecture documentation projects.
  • Visual interpretation and free hand sketches of settlements and components of settlements in rural or urban areas.
  • Ability to use free hand sketch software and have delivered quality project and output.
  • Experience in Landscape planning and settlement components design.

 

Required Languages - Required proficiency in written and speaking in English, Urdu, and Sindhi.

 

Travel – The position will be remote plus on the site and must be willing and able to travel to Karachi and other rural areas and other program areas in the country where applicable. CRS will provide all travel related expensed where required per local country travel policy.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with partners, participatory action planning and community engagement.
  • Experience design software in Revit, 3D-Sketchup, AutoCad, free hand digital designers, procreate, Photoshop, illustrator, indesign etc.
  • Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Duration: 3 months (Possible extension)
