The Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) is an institution of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) established by the Aga Khan Foundation in 1982. AKRSP has been working in Gilgit, Baltistan and Chitral to improve the quality of life of the people in the programme area.

AKRSP is now seeking applications from highly qualified candidates to fill the following position:

Sindh Programme Manager: AKRSP District Office, Thatta Sindh.

Job Purpose:

Overall supervision and management of AKRSP’s programmes and operations, initially in the Thatta and Sujawal districts, with the potential to expand to other areas of Sindh province.

Job Descriptions:

Programmatic:

  • Support area office in development of annual and extended term plans and budgets for programme areas in line with AKRSP’s overall vision, strategy and programmes.
  • Facilitate and support implementation, upscaling and engagement plans with communities, civil society organizations, Government, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee, implement and monitor all programme activities and projects under different donor/internally funded programmes in close coordination with the Senior Management team of AKRSP Core office.
  • Ensure timely reporting of activities related to programmes and any emergency/ humanitarian situation to the core office and concerned authorities.
  • Ensure monthly/ quarterly monitoring of financial expenditures, review budget and programme implementation against annual work plan(s) (targets vs achievements).
  • Risk and conflict management related to programme implementation and organizational partnerships.
  • Facilitate development and dissemination of lessons learnt, success stories, and best practices from programme interventions.
  • Identify needs at the local level and develop priority based annual plans for the sub-region through an institutional system of multi-stakeholder consultation.
  • Timely preparation and submission of donor reports, annual work plans and annual progress reports of AKRSP Sindh.

 

Coordination:

  • Maintain public relations and close coordination with Government and other stakeholders at district and provincial level.
  • Close coordination with other AKDN agencies, elected representatives, Government functionaries, other stakeholders, and partners for effective delivery of social sector services and other development programmes
  • Ensure operational arrangements are in place for donors, Government, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent AKRSP in AKDN forums, Government and other development and civil society organizations/forums where required.

Management:

  • Ensure that effective administrative procedures and systems are in place in-line with organizational policies
  • Support team in ensuring human resource planning, staff training, mentoring and capacity development, teamwork, and maintaining conducive working environment.
  • Ensure gender mainstreaming at all levels within AKRSP field operations.
  • Ensure that all office management, administrative and related activities comply with quality standards, health and safety, safeguarding, legal and statutory requirements and environmental policies of the organization.
  • Ensure implementation of AKRSP’s financial, administrative, HR, gender and other policies and procedures.
  • Act as initial point of contact for all partners including relevant government departments, AKDN agencies and other development partners.
  • Maintain close coordination with other Program Managers to ensure effective programme management and risk mitigation.
  • Stay abreast of donor compliance and requirements and ensure systems are in place to support effective project compliance and positive audit results.

Requirements: 

 

  • Education: Master degree in Development Studies/ Social Science/ Natural Science/ Civil or Agricultural Engineering.
  • Required Experience: Candidate must have 8 to 10 years of experience with at least 5 years in a management position

  • Knowledge of working in water and agriculture sectors in coastal areas
  • Groundwater management and water quality assessment
  • Strong interpersonal, communication & report writing skills
  • Innovative and be able to multi-task
  • Negotiation and mediation skills
  • Familiarity with community driven development and dialogue processes
  • Problem solving and conflict management
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
