                                                                         Vacancy Annoncement Lady Health Visitor (1)

 We are an International Non-governmental Organization looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Lady Health Visitor. Lady health visitor will be based in Nowshera and will perform the following duties:

The LHV will be responsible to assist the Medical Officer In-charge in conducting daily OPD, provide BEmOC services by conducting a normal delivery, taking care of new born, entering all required data in relevant registers, disseminate proper information and guide patients/care givers during pregnancy/at time of delivery/discharge. In case of a referral follow referral guidelines/protocols and inform patient/care takers for the reason of referral. Maintain and update all relevant HMIS tools (registers/cards) at health facility. rds check for specific roles)

Key Responsibilities: 

    • Assist Medical Officer in conducting daily OPD.
    • Ensure OPD equipment (BP apparatus, thermometer, weighing scale) are in a working condition).
    • Enter basic patient information in OPD Register e.g. name, husband/father name, age, address etc.
    • Take patient’s vitals (BP, pulse, temperature, weight etc) and record them.
    • Fill antenatal cards for the pregnant women and remind them for next visit.
    • Screen high risk pregnancies and inform Medical Officer In-charge.
    • Refer high risk cases to a higher-level health facility as per referral protocols and inform patients/caregivers for reason of referral.
    • Ensure labor room is thoroughly clean, and all required instruments are properly sterilized.
    • Conduct a safe and clean normal delivery.
    • Keep delivered woman under observation for Postnatal care at health facility.
    • Ensure the delivered women initiate breast feeding within first hour of delivery.
    • Disseminate information to delivered women on importance of breast feeding, childhood vaccination, care of baby’s cord, personal & newborn hygiene and nutrition.
    • Ensure after delivery the labor room is thoroughly cleaned, disinfected and used instruments are properly washed and sterilized.
    • Ensure all equipment/instruments in labor room are well maintained and functional.
    • Ensure all pregnant and lactating women (PLW) suspected being malnourished are screened and managed.
    • Refer pregnant women to EPI center for TT vaccination.
    • Conduct awareness raising sessions on importance of ANC/PNC visits, vaccination during pregnancy, use of balanced diet, institutional delivery, personal hygiene and practice precautionary measures to avoid diseases.
    • Take over a proper charge of medicines, consumables, kits and cleaning items form the on-duty LHV.
    • Participate in capacity development trainings organized by Malteser International or any other partner organization.
    • Attend staff meetings convened at health facility/project office.
    • Follow proper chain of command and communication lines within the organization.
    • Do not leave the duty station without informing Supervisor.
    • Inform Supervisor/Project Office in case of an incident/emergency.
    • Accomplish any other job-related task assigned by the Supervisor (s).
Required Qualication and Experinece:
  • Qualified LHV from a recognized and well reputed institute in Pakistan.
  • Registered with Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) and having a valid registration card.
  • Experience working as a LHV at least for four (04) years with an INGO preferably in KP province.
  • Fluently speaks Pashto and Urdu.
  • Ability to work under difficult circumstances.
  • A good team player.
  • Punctual/regular in duties
  • Honest, committed and flexible in attitude.
  • Respect and practice organizational policies/rules.
  • Familiar  with local culture.
