Job Summary
The Communications and Fundraising Officer will play a pivotal role in advancing the organization's mission by leading communication strategies and designing innovative fundraising initiatives. The role requires a creative and strategic thinker who can effectively engage diverse stakeholders and generate sustainable funding streams.
Key Responsibilities
Communications
- Create and execute an annual communications plan to enhance brand awareness and promote the organization’s mission.
- Develop impactful messaging for internal and external audiences.
- Produce high-quality content, including newsletters, press releases, blog posts, social media updates, and annual reports.
- Manage and update the organization’s social media platforms regularly.
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
- Design and implement advocacy campaigns and events to amplify organizational impact.
- Coordinate with program teams to showcase success stories and case studies.
Fundraising
- Design and implement an innovative fundraising strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Identify potential funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships.
- Develop relationships with current and potential donors through personalized communication
- Research, write, and submit compelling grant proposals and funding applications.
- Research potential grant opportunities and maintain a calendar of submission deadlines.
- Write compelling grant proposals and funding applications tailored to donor priorities.
- Collaborate with program teams to gather relevant data, success stories, and budget information for proposals.
- Track fundraising progress and prepare periodic reports on outcomes.
- Work closely with program, communication, and finance teams to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
- Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and networking events to build partnerships.
- Ensure all fundraising activities comply with legal, ethical, and organizational policies.
- Uphold donor confidentiality and adhere to data protection regulations.
- Monitor and best practices to improve fundraising efforts
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Project Management, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in communications and fundraising, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Proven track record in developing successful fundraising campaigns and managing donor relationships.
- Strong experience in digital marketing, content creation, and media engagement.
- He/she should have strong working experience in the development sector.
Skills:
- He/She should have strong writing skills in developing annual and other reports; ability to represent DevCon on different forms; strong presentation skills etc.
- Proficiency in using design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and social media platforms.
- Experience with fundraising platforms.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
