1. Background

The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center, is seeking one proactive and motivated interns to support monitoring, evaluation and learning activities under the ongoing FCDO-funded Water Resources Accountability in Pakistan (WRAP) Programme. The internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in developing field-based data collection tools, participatory research, and work on developing Theory of Change for agricultural, water and environmental management programmes. Based at IWMI’s Country Office in Lahore, interns will actively contribute to data collection, monitoring, and analysis of data and evidence in tracking the outcomes and impact of programme activities. Over the one-year program, interns will gain technical skills, practical field experience, and exposure to collaborative work with farmers, researchers, and policymakers, building a strong foundation for a career in monitoring, evaluation and learning. 

2. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in collecting and analyzing data regarding the FCDO WRAP Programme activities.

  • Coordinate with field office staff to obtain necessary information required for quarterly progress reports.

  • Compile ‘success stories reflecting programme impact.

  • Request and review information from the field staff, research staff, administration or the field necessary to respond to queries posed by the donor or external monitoring unit.

  • Record internal and external M&E findings, lessons learned and recommendations for regular follow-up.

  • Assist in organizing different stakeholder meetings, recording meeting minutes and conducting literature reviews.

  • Perform other duties related to each specific project, including assisting in administrative tasks as determined by the project leader during the internship.

  • Assist in compiling and analyzing datasets, preparing technical notes, and contributing to project reports and presentations.

  • Contribute to the technical reports and presentations summarizing project activities, findings, and recommendations.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and ethical protocols during all field and community activities.

  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


3. Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • A recently completed master’s Economics, Statistics, Management Science or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of programme and project management.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI and STATA/SPSS.

  • Ability to develop data collection tools using Kobo Toolbox, MS Forms 

  • Ability to conduct and supervise field surveys and collect programme activity related data.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

  • Willingness to travel to field sites in District Okara, Chakwal and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa


4. Duration of the Assignment:

The interns will be hired for the above tasks for a period of one year at the IWMI Country Office in Lahore with travel to other project sites as required.
