Position Title:                    Field Officer – Flood Response
Location:                            Flood-affected districts (e.g., Malakand and surrounding areas)
Reports to:                         Project Coordinator – Flood Response
Department:                       Humanitarian and Resilience
Contract Type:                    Project-based (3–6 months, with possible extension subject to funding)
Number of Positions:         TBD (male and female candidates encouraged to apply)

Job Purpose

The Field Officer will support the effective implementation of FAID’s Flood Emergency Response at the community level. This role includes direct engagement with flood-affected communities, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure that project activities are inclusive, timely, and responsive to the needs of older people, persons with disabilities, women, and other vulnerable groups. The Field Officer will facilitate social mobilization, support distribution of relief items, monitor activities, collect field data, and contribute to reporting and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Community Mobilization & Engagement

  • Conduct social mobilization, awareness sessions, and meetings with community members, local committees, and authorities.
  • Share project details with communities and stakeholders to promote transparency and accountability.
  • Facilitate the active participation of older people, women, and persons with disabilities in project activities.

Project Implementation & Support

  • Support relief distributions (e.g., NFIs, WASH items, assistive devices) in targeted communities.
  • Assist in the establishment and strengthening of community groups/committees for inclusive disaster response.
  • Coordinate with local authorities (DDMA, line departments) and community leaders for smooth implementation of field activities.
  • Support the organization/conduction of training sessions, sensitization sessions, and awareness campaigns.

Data Collection & Reporting

  • Collect and maintain sex-, age-, and disability-disaggregated data (SADDD) for all activities.
  • Compile and submit daily/weekly activity reports to the Project Coordinator.
  • Maintain databases of field activities and support documentation of case studies and success stories.

Monitoring & Accountability

  • Ensure that all project activities are implemented in line with humanitarian standards and FAID’s accountability framework.
  • Facilitate complaint and feedback mechanisms at the community level and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Monitor distribution processes to ensure fairness, transparency, and inclusion.

Safeguarding Responsibilities

  • Ensure that program activities prevent harm and protect communities, especially children, women, and older people.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns or incidents through FAID’s internal reporting mechanisms.
  • Complete mandatory safeguarding training and adhere to HR vetting requirements.
  • Apply a survivor-centered approach in responding to safeguarding concerns and make appropriate referrals to local services.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Disaster Risk Management, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of relevant field experience in humanitarian/emergency response projects.
  • Strong experience in community mobilization, distributions, and engagement with local authorities.
  • Good communication skills in English, Urdu, and local languages (e.g., Pashto).
  • Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, basic data management).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in diverse and challenging environments.
  • Candidates from flood-affected areas will be given preference.
