The Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) is a non-profit organization established by Aga Khan Foundation in 1982 to help improve the quality of life of the local communities in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral. AKRSP operates across all 10 districts of Gilgit-Baltistan, two districts of Chitral in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), and two districts of Sindh. Its main focus areas include Agriculture & Food Security, Climate Resilience, Civil Society, Work & Enterprise, Education, Early Childhood Development (ECD), and Health & Nutrition.
AKRSP is seeking applications from highly qualified candidates to fill the following position:
Nutrition Specialist – Head Office, Gilgit
The Nutrition Specialist will provide technical support to Nutrition Officers working in Regional Programme Office, Gilgit (RPOG), Regional Programme Office, Baltistan (RPOB), Regional Programme Office, Chitral (RPOC), and Sindh. The position is responsible for strengthening field teams, ensuring the quality of nutrition interventions, and aligning programming with national and international standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to regional Nutrition Officers.
- Conduct regular field visits and virtual check-ins with RPOG, RPOB, RPOC, and Sindh teams.
- Develop and deliver training programs and refresher sessions for field staff.
- Support the development and implementation of nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive strategies.
- Collaborate with the M&E team to monitor program outcomes and suggest improvements.
- Contribute to proposals, concept notes, donor reports, and documentation of success stories.
- Ensure integration of gender, equity, and community-based approaches in program planning and implementation.
- Represent the organization in technical working groups and external coordination forums.
Deliverables:
- Monthly technical support reports covering all assigned regions.
- Training modules and capacity-building records.
- Inputs and reviews for donor reports, IEC materials, and program documents.
- Monitoring summaries and learning documentation from the field
Requirements:
- Education: Master’s degree (16 years) in Human Nutrition or Public Health.
- Required Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in community-based nutrition programming.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of maternal, infant, and young child nutrition (MIYCN), micronutrient supplementation, food security, and health system strengthening.
- Demonstrated experience in training and mentoring field staff.
- Strong report writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Fluency in English and Urdu. Familiarity with regional languages is an asset.
- Willingness to travel to remote areas and program locations as needed.
