Key Responsibilities:
1. Community Mobilization and Engagement
- Conduct broad-based community meetings to raise awareness and mobilize community members on climate change adaptation.
- Form Village Climate Adaptation Forums (VCAFs) and Village Council Climate Adaptation Forums (VC-CAF).
- Facilitate regular VCAF and VC-CAF meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and strategies for improving climate adaptation efforts.
2. Capacity Building and Strengthening of Forums
- Strengthen the functioning and record-keeping of VCAFs to ensure active participation and ownership.
- Build the capacity of forum members on climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and resilience strategies.
- Awareness Raising and communication on potential impacts of climate change and mitigation measures.
3. Community-Based Risk Assessment
- Conduct Community-Based Climate Risk and Vulnerability Analysis (CCRVA) exercises in targeted villages.
- Document the findings of CCRVA and facilitate the Project manager/Project officer in development of CCRVA reports.
4. Beneficiary Identification and Validation
- Identify, verify, and validate beneficiaries for various project interventions including:
- Establishment of climate-resilient fruit orchards
- Kitchen gardening
- Skills development and vocational training programs
5. Distribution and Field Activity Implementation
- Oversee and ensure the smooth, transparent, and equitable distribution of different items among beneficiaries.
- Regularly visit targeted villages for meetings with VCAFs, project beneficiaries and assist the Project Officer – Social Mobilization in carrying out field activities.
6. Conflict Resolution and Community Cooperation
- Identify and address any community-level conflicts that arise during project implementation.
- Facilitate dialogue and mediation to maintain community cooperation and harmony.
7. Planning, Monitoring, and Reporting
- Develop and submit weekly work plans aligned with project DIP and timelines.
- Prepare and submit weekly progress reports highlighting field activities, achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
8. Documentation and Learning
- Ensure comprehensive documentation of all field activities including:
- Meeting minutes
- Attendance sheets
- Training records
- Distribution lists
- Activities Pictures
- Assist the MEAL Officer in identifying and drafting human-interest stories, success stories, and case studies showcasing project impacts.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records to facilitate effective monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting.
9. Cross-Sectoral Support
- Collaborate and assist the Project Manager and other technical staff in the implementation of interventions under different project components such as livelihoods, climate smart agriculture practices, and climate resilience.
