Job Purpose:
The Assistant Manager Finance will support the financial management of the organization, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and statutory regulations. This role involves budgeting, financial reporting, grant management, and day-to-day financial operations, with close coordination across various department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in General Ledger in line with accounting standards and organizational policies.
- Oversee day-to-day financial transactions including payments, receipts, and prepare journal entries.
- Ensure timely reconciliation of bank accounts, cash books, and ledgers.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts in coordination with other departments.
- Monitor budget utilization and provide variance analysis reports.
- Prepare periodic financial reports for internal management and external donors.
- Support project teams in tracking grant budgets and expenditures.
- Ensure compliance with donor financial guidelines and reporting requirements.
- Maintain grant specific accounts and support financial reporting to donors.
- Track fund disbursements and ensure proper documentation for audits.
- Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits.
- Ensure financial documentation is complete, accurate, and audit ready.
- Support the implementation of audit recommendations.
- Liaise with field offices to ensure proper financial management and reporting.
- Provide training and support to program staff on financial procedures and donor compliance.
- Collaborate with HR, procurement, and logistics teams for integrated financial oversight.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, Accounting, or Commerce.
- Professional certification (ACCA, CA Inter, CMA) preferred.
- 4–5 years of experience in finance, preferably in the NGO or development sector.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and grant management.
- Familiarity with donor compliance.
- Proficient in accounting software (QuickBooks, Tally, ERP systems) and MS Excel.
