Background: Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS, P) runs one of the largest not-for-profit private healthcare systems in the country, with a focus on the regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh. Its core focus includes initiatives for hard-to-reach populations through services like outreach clinics, training of community midwives to provide low-cost health services in remote areas, screening for non-communicable diseases, and digital health solutions.

Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan, is looking for a competent Lady Health Vistor for Upper Ghizer (Herkush BHC).

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provides comprehensive maternal and child health care, including antenatal, postnatal, immunization, and family planning services.
  • Promotes health education, infection control, and growth monitoring to improve community well-being.
  • Supports community awareness activities to strengthen preventive health practices.
  • Ensures accurate documentation and proper coordination with health teams.
  • Registers all families of the target population
  • Registers all pregnant mothers and examine them regularly during antenatal and postnatal periods as per policy
  • Identifies high-risk mothers and children and manages proper & timely referral
  • Carries out growth monitoring of children under 5 years as per unit policy and manages malnutrition according to its degree
  • Ensures immediate breastfeeding practices and starts supplementary feeding/weaning diets at six months of age
  • Ensures implementation of IMNCI and BEmONC/reproductive health care standards
  • Maintains cold chain and improve coverage of EPI and TT vaccination
  • Organizes, implement, and supervise health promotion activities with Family Health Workers to raise awareness of preventive measures, hygiene, and nutrition
  • Maintains internal control and MIS systems and ensure timely submission of reports
  • Ensures implementation of infection control and nursing quality assurance strategies in the unit
  • Maintains hygienic environment of the health unit and ensure proper waste disposal
  • Ensures implementation of health education and promotion activities in coordination with the field team
  • Works as part of a multidisciplinary team that may include GPs
  • Provides emotional support for postnatal depression, bereavement, disability, family conflict, and domestic violence
  • Supports and trains new health visitors and provides support to staff
  • Conducts health education sessions based on world health days and related to morbidity, communicable, and non-communicable diseases
  • Maintains nursing documentation according to protocol
  • Follows infection control protocols
  • Provides antenatal, intranatal, and postnatal care
  • Provides family planning services and counseling
  • Arranges and conducts NCD and other outreach screenings in the community.
  • Implements AKHS,P policy, vision, mission, values, and ISO 9001:2015 standards
  • Follows AKHS,P policies and ISO 9001:2015 standards to maintain quality care.

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: LHV Diploma or RM from any recognized nursing institution, valid with Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) license.
  • Minimum 1 years of experience in a reputable institution,
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written with clients and staff
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Always demonstrate polite and courteous behavior
  • Demonstrate positive and receptive attitudes to those in authority and to customers
  • Relevant skills and knowledge on growth assessment and nutrition
  • Provide personalized care
