Job Summary:

The Social Mobilizer will play a key role in community engagement, mobilization, and awareness under the Integrated Resilience Project in Lasbela. This includes supporting implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and Livelihoods activities in 30 target villages.

Social Mobilizers will ensure active participation of communities, strengthen local committees (VDCs, CERTs, O&M groups), and facilitate behavioral change through awareness sessions and mobilization campaigns.

Job Responsibilities: 

Community Mobilization and Participation          

  • Mobilize target communities for all DRR, WASH, and Livelihood interventions.
  • Support the formation and strengthening of Village Development Committees (VDCs),
  • Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs), and O&M Committees.
  • Facilitate community-based planning sessions, vulnerability assessments, and awareness activities.
  • Ensure inclusive participation of women, youth, and people with disabilities.

Awareness and Capacity Building 

  • Conduct regular community awareness sessions on disaster preparedness, hygiene promotion, safe water practices, sanitation, and livelihood resilience.
  • Organize and facilitate training sessions, FGDs, and community dialogues.
  • Disseminate IEC materials on DRR, WASH, and health messages.
  • Support behavioral change efforts focusing on open defecation, waste management, and water safety.

Livelihood and Agriculture Support          

  • Assist in beneficiary identification for livelihood and agriculture interventions.
  • Facilitate farmer group meetings, vocational training mobilization, and cash grant disbursements.
  • Collect field data on livelihood activities and ensure gender balance in participation.
  • Support follow-up with beneficiaries on utilization of livelihood assets.

Monitoring, Documentation, and Reporting         

  • Maintain attendance, beneficiary lists, and activity records for all community sessions.
  • Support baseline, monitoring, and evaluation exercises in coordination with the M&E team.
  • Submit weekly progress updates, success stories, and community feedback reports to the Project Officer.
  • Support complaint and feedback mechanisms at village level.

Coordination and Field Support    

  • Liaise with community leaders, local government representatives, and other NGOs working in the area.
  • Provide support to the Field Engineer during infrastructure-related site selection and community consultations.
  • Facilitate smooth communication between field teams and community structures.
  • Ensure timely information flow between project staff and community members.

Job Specifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Social Work, Sociology, Community Development, Rural Development or a related field.
  • Relevant certification in community mobilization will be an asset.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in community mobilization or development work, preferably in DRR, WASH, or livelihood projects.
  • Experience working with NGOs or donor-funded projects in rural areas (Balochistan experience preferred).

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills with community groups.
  • Strong communication skills in Urdu and local languages (Balochi and Sindhi preferred).
  • Ability to conduct awareness sessions and engage diverse groups.
  • Basic understanding of DRR, hygiene promotion, and agriculture-based livelihoods.
  • Good reporting and record-keeping skills.
  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability to local customs
