Scope of Work:
The M&E Officer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing monitoring and evaluation systems for the School Meal Project to ensure accurate tracking of outputs, outcomes, and compliance with the monitoring requirements. The role supports evidence-based decision-making, accountability, and continuous improvement of project performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the project M&E plan in line with the defined standards and project log frame.
- Define indicators, data sources, data collection tools, and reporting timelines.
- Ensure alignment of M&E activities with donor’s school feeding guidelines and donor requirements.
- Design and deploy data collection tools (attendance sheets, meal distribution trackers, monitoring checklists).
- Train field staff, school monitors, and data collectors on M&E tools and data quality standards.
- Conduct regular data quality assessments (DQAs) to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
- Verify meal distribution data, school attendance, and beneficiary records.
- Conduct routine field visits to schools, kitchens, and distribution points to monitor implementation.
- Verify compliance with food safety, quantity, and distribution standards in coordination with Food Safety and Logistics teams.
- Document findings, challenges, and best practices from field monitoring visits.
- Analyze monitoring data and prepare weekly, monthly, and periodic M&E reports.
- Provide data inputs for donor reports, dashboards, and management updates.
- Highlight trends, gaps, and recommendations to improve project performance.
- Support feedback and complaint response mechanisms (FCRM) for beneficiaries, schools, and communities.
- Support learning by documenting lessons learned and contributing to adaptive program management.
- Participate in review meetings and evaluations as required by donor.
- Coordinate closely with Reporting & Documentation, MIS, Finance, Logistics, and Program teams.
- Support baseline, endline, or post-distribution monitoring (PDM) exercises when required.
- Ensure confidentiality and ethical handling of beneficiary data.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years of M&E experience, preferably in NGO/ Humanitarian or donor-funded projects.
- Experience in school feeding, food assistance, nutrition, or education projects is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of M&E tools, indicators, and data quality assurance.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, data analysis tools.
