Job Summary:
This position is being advertised for an anticipatory project, with the duty station to be based in either Islamabad or Lahore.
1- Communication Strategy & Technical Leadership (30% of the time):
- Provide technical leadership and implementation support on activities related with project’s internal and external communication including development and implementation of communication strategy and communication products such as campaigns, documentaries, publications, promotional material etc.
- Manage the production and dissemination of relevant information, and collect feedback from stakeholders in a manner that promotes project’s contributions.
- Design, develop and disseminate appropriate promotional, publicity, and marketing material including booklets, brochures, and giveaways etc. to encourage behavior change among the beneficiaries of the project.
- Develop new/ improve existing WASH materials that promote feasible and effective changes in behavior and reflect the realities of primary, secondary and tertiary audience, and which demonstrate understanding of the determinants (opportunities, ability and motivation) of hand washing with soap, having open defecation free environments, using and maintenance of latrines and safe management of drinking water.
- Develop new/ improve existing WASH materials that effectively incorporate disability, environment and social inclusion, and which reflect an understanding of how discrimination against girls and children with disabilities can be a barrier to access to WASH facilities.
- Organize awareness raising and community mobilization campaigns to sensitize the relevant stakeholders about the project interventions and their potential benefits for the public.
- Develop and deliver media communications and maintain good and close working relations with the media for all the related activities of the project.
2- Production & Dissemination of Communication Materials (25% of the time):
- Manage the production and dissemination of relevant information to stakeholders, ensuring messaging highlights the project’s contributions.
- Develop new or improve existing WASH communication materials that promote behaviour change for primary, secondary, and tertiary audiences.
- Ensure materials reflect an understanding of determinants of behaviours such as handwashing with soap, safe latrine use, open-defecation-free practices, and safe drinking water management.
- Ensure WASH materials incorporate disability, environmental, and social inclusion considerations, and address barriers faced by girls and children with disabilities.
- Organize awareness campaigns, community mobilization events, and outreach activities to sensitize communities and stakeholders about project interventions.
3- Media & Stakeholder Communication (20% of the time):
- Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets to facilitate positive coverage and project visibility.
- Support media engagement activities, including press releases, interviews, and social media content.
- Collect feedback from stakeholders and the public to evaluate the effectiveness of communication products and campaigns.
- Provide technical advice on communication approaches to enhance community engagement and behaviour change outcomes.
4- Monitoring, Evaluation & Quality Assurance (20% of the time):
- Monitor the implementation and reach of communication activities and campaigns.
- Support the documentation of lessons learned, success stories, and good practices for reporting and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure compliance with CARE International branding, messaging standards and visibility guidelines.
- Collaborate with MEAL and technical teams to integrate communication metrics into project monitoring systems.
5- Other responsibilities as assigned: (05% of time)
- Any other tasks or responsibilities based on organizational and programming needs as assigned by the Line Manager.
A) Qualifications (Know How)
A university degree in Mass Communications, Business Administration, ICT, or a relevant discipline ideally from a foreign institution.
B) Experience/ Technical Skills
- 12 years of relevant work experience in communications, marketing, outreach, and advocacy etc.
- Preferably, experience of working in similar projects/assignments, in similar capacity, with international donors, and in organizations with comparable conditions.
- Experience in humanitarian or WASH-focused programmes.
- Skills in graphic design software (Canva, Adobe Suite), photography, videography, and multimedia production.
- Experience in monitoring the effectiveness of communication interventions.
