Service Provider for Conducting Immersive Art Exhibit for the ICRC

1. Background

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Pakistan is planning an immersive art exhibition titled "#PaintforChange: Art Beyond Boundaries" in Islamabad. This exhibition will feature both digital and physical art, showcasing the creations of local artists and focusing on themes relevant to the ICRC’s humanitarian work in Pakistan and around the world. The exhibit aims to highlight the complexities of conflict, resilience, and human connection through art. It is designed to engage a diverse audience, including policymakers, authorities, civil society, humanitarian workers, artists, media persons, students, and the general public, fostering empathy, dialogue, and support for humanitarian efforts.

2. Objectives

The main objectives of this exhibition are to:

  • Raise Awareness: Engage the public emotionally and intellectually about the ICRC's mission and humanitarian challenges in Pakistan and globally.
  • Foster Dialogue and Networking: Create an environment for interaction among various stakeholders to foster informed decision-making in the humanitarian field.
  • Engage Locally: Collaborate with local artists to explore and showcase themes resonant with the ICRC's work.
  • Humanize Humanitarian Work: Present the human stories behind the ICRC’s work to foster empathy and support.
  • Inspire Action: Motivate visitors to support humanitarian causes through various forms of engagement.

3. Scope of Work

The Consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Exhibition Design and Planning:
    • Develop a comprehensive plan for the exhibition layout and design.
    • Curate digital and physical art pieces from the ICRC’s existing repository and local artists.
    • Coordinate with local artists to incorporate their works and ensure they align with the exhibition’s themes.
    • Design interactive and immersive elements to enhance visitor engagement.
  • Coordination and Logistics:
    • Select a venue in Islamabad for the exhibit.
    • Coordinate with the venue in Islamabad for space arrangement and technical requirements.
    • Manage logistics for the transportation, installation, and security of art pieces.
    • Ensure all technical requirements for displaying digital art are met (e.g., screens, projectors).
  • Marketing and Communication:
  • Coordinate with the ICRC Communications teams to promote the event through various channels.
  • Coordinate with the ICRC Design Department to design promotional materials such as invitations, brochures, and social media content.

 

  • Event Management:
  • Oversee the setup and dismantling of the exhibition.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including policymakers, authorities, artists, and the public.
  • Ensure smooth operation during the exhibition days, managing staff and volunteers.

 

  • Evaluation and Reporting:
  • Collect and analyse visitor feedback.
  • Assess the impact of the exhibition in terms of audience engagement and awareness.
  • Submit a detailed final report, including recommendations for future exhibitions.

4. Deliverables

The Consultant is expected to deliver the following:

  • Selection of venue in Islamabad
  • Exhibition design plan and layout.
  • Curated list of digital and physical art pieces, from the ICRC’s repository
  • Marketing and promotional materials.
  • Event management plan and on-site coordination.
  • Final report including visitor feedback and impact assessment.

5. Duration and Timeline

The assignment is expected to be completed over a period of [specify duration, e.g., four months], with the following tentative timeline:

  • Month 1: Exhibition design and planning.
  • Month 2: Coordination with artists and logistical preparations, as well as marketing and promotion.
  • Month 3: Exhibition setup, event management, and final reporting.

6. Qualifications and Experience

  • The Consultant should possess the following qualifications and experience:
  • Advanced degree in Art, Design, Event Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in curating and managing art exhibitions, particularly immersive and multimedia exhibits.
  • Strong understanding of humanitarian themes and the ability to integrate them into an art exhibit.
  • Excellent coordination and project management skills.
  • Strong marketing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders and manage event logistics effectively.
