Job Summary

The Food Technology Specialist will be responsible for applying expertise in food science and technology to improve food processing, preservation, safety, and quality. The specialist will work on developing and implementing innovative techniques, processes, and technologies to optimize food production, extend shelf life, and enhance nutritional content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare training material covering food processing and preservation techniques
  • Build capacities of master trainers through the training on developed and approved curriculum / training
  • Provide back stopping support to the master trainers on food processing and preservation during the training of farmers (women) in project target geographic areas
  • Advice on improved food processing techniques, increase efficiency, and reduce wastage while maintaining product quality and safety.
  • Provide input on quality control procedures to ensure that food products meet regulatory standards and maintain consistent quality.
  • Advise and train women farmers on food safety regulations and industry best practices. Provide guidance on food safety measures, hazard analysis.
  • Recommend suitable food packaging materials and technologies that ensure product freshness, extend shelf life, and minimize environmental impacts.
  • Advice on sensory evaluations to assess the taste, texture, and overall acceptability of food products.
  • Advice on emerging trends, technologies, and research in the food industry and add these elements while preparing and delivering the trainings
  • Monitor and evaluate the food processing training program, suggest measures and take actions for further improvement
  • Any other task to be assigned by the Client or ADB in line with the TORs of this assignment and the overall objectives of the project.

Qualification and Experience

  • Preferably Post-graduate degree in  Food Science/Technology, Chemistry, Nutrition, Crop  Science or equivalent qualification in a similar field.
  • Preferably 7 years of relevant experience in food product development, food processing, food safety management processing, storage and preservation.
  • Strong knowledge of food chemistry, microbiology, and food preservation techniques. Familiarity with food regulations, food safety standards, and industry certifications (e.g., ISO, FSSC, BRC).
  • The expert having experience of being a part of the similar project in Pakistan, particularly the province of KP would be an advantage.
The above mentioned role is subject to the award of Project.
