Background

Associates in Development Pvt. Ltd. (AiD) is a Pakistan-based development and management consulting company which provides high-quality consulting services in the core areas of 1) Social Sectors; 2) Engineering & Infrastructure; and 3) Environment and Climate Change.

AiD has received USAID’s award for the Economic Recovery and Development Activity (ERDA), which is a five-year project designed to expand economic opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including in Newly Merged Districts (NMDs). ERDA will promote sustainable economic growth by improving agriculture sector capacity and supporting allied MSMEs in the non-agriculture sectors.

Purpose of the Role

The overall purpose of this role is to assist the ERDA Project Management Unit team in editing, proofreading, formatting and finalizing program documents. The Reporting Specialist will review and edit documents, including checks on grammar, style, spelling, formatting, and punctuation, with a view to strengthening overall clarity and quality of writing. In rare cases, the editor may need to be involved in substantively revising and reworking documents.

Job Description

  • Edit and finalize draft program documents for final clearance by the ERDA PMU team, in compliance with USAID and AiD’s guidelines and branding rules, to ensure grammatical accuracy, factual accuracy, consistent and logical formatting, coherence etc. These may include minutes of meetings, internal reports, donor reports, concept notes, briefing documents, fact sheets, procurement documents, media materials (website, social media, and communication handouts), success stories and other relevant documentation
  • Edit programme-related documents, donor reports and other documents for clarity, readability, and consistency.
  • Ensure that all content is free of spelling mistakes, and professionally and logically presented removing redundant content.
  • Review, verify and edit to ensure use of gender and culturally sensitive language in all documents.
  • In collaboration with responsible staff, guide the drafts through fact-checking and copy-editing processes and track responses to queries; edit and review final copy of report or document.

Qualification Requirements

Academic Qualification

  • University Degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, Business Studies or a relevant discipline

Professional Qualification

  • Excellent editorial skills with demonstrated ability for logical and analytical writing, editing and proofreading skills in English.
  • Expertise in writing, editing and proofreading Urdu will be preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, demonstrated ability to write, edit or proofread reports for various audiences, preferably on donor-funded development assistance projects.
  • Experience of working on content and report writing on USAID-funded projects will be an asset.
  • Familiarity with international development issues is desirable.
