Role and Responsibilities

  1. Develop activities plan aligned with the National Action Plan for Global Health Security, IHR and One Health ensuring coordination with infectious diseases vertical programs, maternal and child health, and health system strengthening initiatives at the national and provincial levels.
  2. Provide technical expertise to the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (MoNHSR&C)/National Institutes of Health (NIH) to manage, coordinate, and monitor activities in line with the recommendations of the 2nd Joint External Evaluation (JEE) of the country’s core capacities related to human and animal health and the environment.
  3. Liaison and work together with other USAID implementing partners, which also provide support for GHSA implementation, to promote integrated non-duplicative programming across key GHSA technical areas, collaborate and leverage each other’s activities.
  4. Identify and cultivate strategic relationships for implementation of GHSA activities with senior policy-level stakeholders across multiple related sectors and line ministries.
  5. Have strong knowledge of assessments and scoring related to Pakistan’s 1st and 2nd Joint External Evaluation and understanding of national action plans to strengthen core capacities. 
  6. Conduct site visits and attend relevant GHSA meetings and events where project representation is required
  7. Coordinate and work closely with NIH and provincial health departments for the maintenance, routine operations, efficient deployment and overseeing of USAID-donated mobile biosafety level-2 laboratories
  8. Ensure that the project’s planning and reporting are carried out in accordance with GHSA policies of USAID Mission and the federal government.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in public health, epidemiology, medicine, veterinary medicine, social or behavioral science or similar field.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible professional experience in Public Health with at least three years working in infectious diseases.
  • Experience in managing high-level coordination and relationships across sectors with public sector entities, bilateral and multilateral donors and NGOs is required.
  • Experience working with GHSA intervention and technical areas is also required.  
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
