Job Description of Optometrists working in RHCs

Job Title: Optometrist

Location: District Naushahro Feroze, Sindh Province

Work Hours: 48 hours per week

Responsible to: Optometrist

Responsible for: Screening, Referral, Maintaining Image in Database, Reporting, Counselling and referrals;  

The Optometrist will be responsible for Visual assessment, refraction and prescription of Medicine and glasses if needed.

• He/she will be responsible for the initial DR screening of known DM patients with a portable fundus camera.
• He/She will regularly maintain the OPD record of the patients, share it with DC daily.
• He/She will regularly maintain and update the image database of DR screened patients.
• He/She will be responsible to counsel the diabetics regarding control of diabetes and importance of screening and early referrals 
• He/She will maintain the record of receiving patients from the BHU.
• He/She will maintain the record of Referrals to DHQ/AIEH Kandiaro.
• He/She will facilitate PC and PM in different training sessions. 
• He/She will facilitate the Counsellor and PC in referral and follow-up of DR and STDR patients.
• To work in close liaison with team members.
• Any other work assigned when and where required.
