Export Readiness Trainings for Women Led Businesses

 

A consulting firm of repute needs to engage an expert for this short-term assignment, in one of its co-managed projects, for developing training content and conducting export readiness trainings for women-led businesses, in collaboration with Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). The consultant will be designing training modules conducting the trainings of women-led businesses.

 Detailed Scope of Work is attached with this Advertisement.

1.     Position Title & Level of Effort:

One short-term local ‘Export Readiness Training Expert’, for 25 person-days.

 

2.     Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

This assignment will require the consultant to perform the following tasks.

  1. Develop technical content with practical examples in the shape of a module.  
  2. In discussion with IPA, finalize the criteria for selecting most relevant women led businesses (existing/aspiring exporters). Analyze the data available with IPA to understand which sector businesses are coming from and hence also including relevant sector or product specific content to increase engagement in the trainings.
  3. Based on above, develop a training plan with tentative locations and total number of participants.
  4. Develop comprehensive training program with relevant modules and explaining the training approach to increase learning and engagement.
  5. Delivering a one-day (8-hour) per city training to women led businesses, either virtually or in person, as decided by IPA.

 

3.     Job Qualifications:

This consultancy requires the services of a local consultant having relevant experience to complete similar types of assignments in the past.

 

 

Person Specifications

 

Export Readiness Expert

General

  • The position requires at least a Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, International Business or other relevant field from a reputed local or international university is (preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years overall experience in trade sector.
  • Minimum 2 years exposure of having designed and imparted training.
  • Imparting training specific to Trade and Export Readiness will be preferred.
  • Strong research, analytical and training design and delivery skills are needed.
  • Familiarity with USAID funded projects and donor funded trade related training would be an advantage.
  • Experience of engaging with clients in export markets would be an added advantage.

 Preferred Experience

In addition to the above experience and qualifications, the ideal candidate would possess the following:

  1. Export and International Trade Expertise: The consultant should have a strong background and expertise in export and international trade, with a focus on U.S market. Should be familiar with export regulations, market dynamics, trade policies, and international standards.
  2. SME Development and Investment Promotion: The consultant should possess knowledge and experience in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in their growth and expansion, specifically within the context of investment promotion projects.
  3. Women's Economic Empowerment: Given the focus on women-owned enterprises, the consultant should have experience and understanding of women's economic empowerment and strategies to support their growth and participation in international trade.
  4. Training and Capacity Building: The consultant should have a proven track record in delivering effective training and capacity-building programs, particularly in the areas of export readiness, market access, product development, marketing, and international business development.

 

6.     Duty Station:

The consultant will work with the related IPA personnel, based in Islamabad. Trainings will be in different cities (Karachi, Lahore, Multan and as determined by IPA team).

 

7.     Duration of the Assignment:

This job is initially planned to take place as per a start date of on, or around, October 25, 2023 and end-date of on, or around, December 15, 2023, hereto, for a total of 25 person days, level of effort. Starting & ending dates may be shifted, conditional to induction of the Expert. 

 

8.     Activities & Deliverables:

Final deliverables under this assignment will be:

  • Training Program and Modules on Export Readiness for U.S. Market.
  • Final Training Report as per USAID Format.
