The Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS, P) is seeking an experienced Resident Medical Officer to join its healthcare team.

Summary of the Role

The Resident Medical Officer provides high-quality clinical care to patients attending AKHS, P facilities, including accurate diagnosis, essential treatment, and timely referral or escalation of care. The role also supports and mentors facility staff, participates in community health initiatives, and contributes to management-led activities to ensure quality and timely patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts regular clinics.
  • Examines and assesses patients to establish accurate diagnoses and appropriate treatment plans.
  • Manages patients effectively by providing holistic, evidence-based, and cost-effective care.
  • Monitors patients and provides general medical care in the clinic.
  • Provides emergency care coverage as required.
  • Conducts home visits when necessary.
  • Provides community-based health services outside the facility when required.
  • Delivers patient-centred health education and counselling.
  • Maintains accurate and complete patient records, diagnoses, and treatment plans using AKHS, P tools and systems.
  • Adheres to established medical protocols, clinical guidelines, and standards of practice.
  • Ensures compliance with AKHS, P quality standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborates effectively with colleagues and demonstrates strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Supports mentoring and capacity-building of facility staff as required.
  • Participates in community outreach and other management-led health initiatives.

Eligibility Criteria

  • MBBS degree from a recognized institution.
  • Valid PMC license Required.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant clinical experience.
  • Good command of digital tools and ability to use electronic systems for documentation and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient/customer-dealing skills.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and in a community-based healthcare environment.
