Overview:

Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University USA, a global leader in improving health care for women and families, is looking to hire Communications Manager, who will be responsible for raising the profile and visibility of Jhpiego, and communicating the work of Jhpiego to a variety of audiences.  The Communications Manager will develop a communications strategy and a corresponding documentation and dissemination plan in consultation with the Senior Management Team (SMT) and Program Leadership to ensure that the right information is available at the right time to the right people for programmatic success. The position will also maintain Jhpiego-specific knowledge repositories containing both published and unpublished materials and promote knowledge exchange within the programs.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Communications and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with the Jhpiego Pakistan SMT to formulate and execute a comprehensive communication strategy along with a documentation and dissemination plan to effectively communicate about Jhpiego’s portfolio and projects.
  • Provide support to program leadership in developing project communication plans aligned with organizational objectives and donor requirements.
  • Support strategic partnerships by coordinating communication and visibility efforts with donors, government counterparts, and implementing partners.
  • Support the development of compelling success stories, human-interest narratives, and policy briefs to highlight project achievements and coordinate with internal teams and partners to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels.
  • Support the drafting and development of concept notes, proposals, and donor-ready documents for future funding and collaboration opportunities.
  • Support Country Director in new proposal development by providing inputs, including strategy narratives, advocacy and SBCC approaches, and visibility plans.
  • Enhance visibility of program achievements among stakeholders, partners, and the public through targeted media engagement and advocacy initiatives.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to showcase innovations, key learnings, and outcomes through events, dissemination workshops, and media features.
  • Lead the development of social media campaigns, press kits, and digital content to position Jhpiego as a thought leader in public health.
  • Periodically update HQ on key activities and achievements, sharing success stories and posts for social media.
  • Develop success stories, blogs, and social media posts reflecting program achievements.
  • Represent Jhpiego in national and provincial platforms, consultations, advocacy events, and related forums.
  • Assist in coordinating public affairs, media, and external events.

Knowledge Management:

  • Develop a knowledge management strategy in consultation with the Country SMT and Jhpiego global backstop staff in the US to ensure the availability of relevant information for program success.
  • Organize, catalog, and enter knowledge assets into Jhpiego’s central electronic library.
  • Promote knowledge exchange and learning opportunities in collaboration with the central Jhpiego KM unit.

Content Development and Capacity Building: 

  • Ensure all communication outputs adhere to Jhpiego and donor branding.
  • Conceptualize and oversee production of multimedia content such as videos, infographics, and photo stories.
  • Coordinate with program teams to create effective IEC materials, branding, publications, and presentations as needed.
  • Develop capacity-building activities for staff to enhance their ability to communicate project achievements and position Jhpiego effectively.
  • Build internal capacity on advocacy communication, donor engagement, and strategic messaging for partnerships and new initiatives.
  • Undertake any other tasks assigned

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or other relevant areas from a reputed institute. Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • At least 7-8 years’ experience in communications, public relations, knowledge management, marketing, and proposal development/advocacy support preferably in the context of international development or healthcare.
  • Familiarity with communication and SBCC strategies, branding, and media relations and stakeholder engagement for partnerships.
  • Understanding of concepts, tools and features of knowledge dissemination via web-based and print publishing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills will be a leading criterion in selection
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools for media and communications.
  • Willingness to travel nationally to project sites
