U.S. Mission Pakistan is seeking applications from qualified individuals for Public Engagement Assistant (Exchange Coordinator) position in U.S. Consulate General, Karachi.

 Basic Function of the Position: The incumbent manages all aspects of the Post’s exchange programs for Established Opinion Leaders and Emerging Voices audiences, including government officials, individuals, and organizations such as think tanks, professional associations, civil society organizations, and academic institutions. Additionally, the position targets youth and communities not typically engaged in traditional U.S. diplomatic efforts, such as civil society groups, minorities, and populations vulnerable to extremist appeals. The job holder is responsible for preparing marketing materials and conducting outreach at academic institutions to increase and diversify the applicant pool. The incumbent monitors the development of participants’ U.S. programs and organizes pre-departure logistics, orientations, and briefings. Designs and recommends academic-year and short-duration exchange programs to engage Established Opinion Leaders and Emerging Voices, in coordination with PD and Consulate General Karachi colleagues.

Qualification Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Minimum three (3) years of experience in communications, public engagement management, or education duties as components of the   work in an international, academic, or governmental work environment is required.

EDUCATION: Completion of university degree (16 years of education) in Political Science/International Relations, American Studies, Communications/Public Relations, Economics, or local equivalent is required.

Job Knowledge: The incumbent should have understanding the attitudes and preferences of Established Opinion Leaders and Emerging Voices audiences in Pakistan, including the regional, political, social, cultural, and other factors and institutions that shape those attitudes, is required, with a focus on the Consulate General Karachi consular district. Detailed knowledge of Pakistani higher education, business, and professional exchanges programs is required. Should be familiar with digital practices and procedures used by or influential with Pakistani Established Opinion Leaders and Emerging Voices sectors. 

Language: LANGUAGE: Level IV (fluent) Reading/Writing/Speaking in English and Urdu is required. English language skills may be tested.

Skills And Abilities: The incumbent should have the ability to organize complex international programming and interpret and explain complex concepts, including U.S. regulations, in both English and Urdu. The job holder should be able to analyze historical data to provide long-term projections and must be familiar with monitoring and evaluation, including establishing baseline criteria, testing data, and processing feedback. Additionally, the incumbent should have the ability to initiate and develop a range of contacts across broad fields in public, private, government, and non-governmental sectors. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Suite) is required to create professional reports, memoranda, spreadsheets, and presentations, as well as to communicate clearly through email. Skills and abilities may be tested..
