The Mountaineering Trainer is responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating training for individuals and groups in high-altitude and mountain environments. The role focuses on building participant skills, ensuring safety, and promoting responsible mountain practices.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct session regarding High Altitude Porter (Mountaineering), according to the provided module.
- Prepare proper presentation in Power Point regarding the subject.
- Design and variant course content in time of need for program / projects.
- Cover course content in the given time period of trainings.
- Keep session alive and trainees on track with group work, presentation and practical demonstration.
- Regular attendance registers maintenance for the given classes.
- Prepare and facilitate in conducting Pre, Post and final evaluation papers.
- Facilitation and coordination with co-trainers over day-to-day affairs in trainings.
- Maintain hard and soft copies of the documents/evaluation sheets related to training.
- Deliver practical training on mountaineering skills including rock climbing, scrambling, navigation, rope work, and equipment handling.
- Conduct ongoing risk assessments, enforce safety protocols, and manage group dynamics in varying mountain conditions.
- Respond effectively to emergencies, administer advanced first aid, and coordinate rescue support when required.
- Develop and implement training plans, monitor trainee progress, and provide constructive feedback.
- Inspect, maintain, and correctly fit all mountaineering equipment to ensure safe use.
- Manage trip logistics (transport, supplies, permits) and complete required documentation and incident reports.
- Educate participants on mountain ecology and “Leave No Trace” principles.
- Stay updated on industry standards, techniques, and safety practices through continuous professional development.
- Any other task assigned by the management.
Qualifications
- Minimum 14 years of education.
- Preference for candidates with a Level II Diploma in relevant trade.
- Minimum one year of relevant industry experience.
- Strong communication skills in English and Urdu.
Certifications
- Valid professional mountaineering certification from a recognized body.
- Current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or equivalent advanced first aid certification with a hands-on assessment.
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in leading and instructing mountaineering activities in diverse environments.
- Strong personal mountaineering background, including multi-pitch climbing and navigating difficult terrain and weather conditions.
- Experience training or guiding varied groups (youth, adults, mixed abilities).
