Relevant Experience: Minimum 02 years of overall experience with at least 01 year of experience in relevant field

Position Obective: This position is dedicated to Health (including Mental Health and Psychosocial Support) capacity building especially in regard to Psychological First Aid (PFA) of community mobilisation staff and community volunteers. The expert will be responsible to design a full training material package, conduct training for master trainers, create referral pathways and develop protection tools and monitoring mechanism. The expert is expected to spend 80% of his time in the field, whilst training, supervision and technical support to the field team.

Job Description:

Mission 1: Build the capacity of government department, service providers and community resource person (CRPs) through trainings and on job coaching on MHPSS /PFA (30%)

  • Design a PFA training package for Outreach workers, according to international Mental Health and psychosocial (MHPSS) standards and protocols
  • Conduct capacity building need assessment and establish technical areas that requires training and on job support among the team.
  • Based on identified needs, develop capacity building plan in collaboration with HOD N&H
  • Adapt or prepare coaching and training materials and sessions for the field team based on the protocols validated by the AAH MHPSS&P team (field and HQ)
  • Conduct basic and refresher trainings on technical aspects and support conduction of other ad hoc training sessions, coaching and on-the–job support based on identified needs.
  • To provide support to trained staff to train other field staff
  • Ensure continuous supervision and technical support to the field teams and activities.
  • Develop the SBCC and community awareness sessions and activities as per context and implement the strategy in community.

Mission 2: Build the capacity of government department, service providers and community resource person (CRPs) through trainings and on job coaching on IYCF-E and general health sessions (30%)

  • Design a IYCF-E training package for outreach worker, according to international standards and protocols in coordination with HOD N & H.
  • Adapt or prepare coaching and training materials and sessions for the field team based on the protocols validated by ACF CO.
  • Conduct basic and refresher trainings on technical aspects and support conduction of other ad hoc training sessions, coaching and on-the–job support based on identified needs.
  • To provide support to trained staff to train other field staff
  • Ensure continuous supervision and technical support to the field teams and activities

Mission 3: Supervise the distribution of MNP among the selected beneficiaries (30%)

  • Supervise the selection of beneficiaries
  • Train relevant outreach workers regarding use of MNP and ensure that the distribution is in line with defined ACF protocol, and end users are made aware regarding the use and benefits of MNP use.
  • In coordination with MEAL, ensure post distribution monitoring in done to verify beneficiaries.
  • Provide ongoing support to outreach workers to complete the subject task.

Mission 4: Reporting, monitoring and evaluation (10%) 

  • In collaboration with SPM, HoD Health and Nutrition, conduct regular  review meetings – (on program outcomes and supervision)
  • Report operational bullet-point as part of the monthly activity report for HOD H&N & SPM to follow up on capacity building, key activity issues, including recommendations
  • Ensure capitalisation and learning of program documentation, case studies and success stories in collaboration with the HOD H&N & SPM, SPM, MEAL department.
  • Contribute to the setting of a standard monitoring and evaluation databases for programs, in close collaboration with the PM, Head of Department and MEAL department.

Mission 5: Ensure compliance with ACFs gender equality, child protection sensitivity and Safeguarding policies

  • Read and ensure a full understanding of ACFs Gender, Child Protection and other safeguarding policies  
  • Implement all work related activities with a gender, inclusion and child protection lens
  • Help build an inclusive office environment where people do not feel disadvantaged or judged according to their gender or limited due to manageable disability

Specific skills needed to perform the function:

  • Strong Capacity building / Training Skills
  • Excellent coordination and interpersonal skills
  • Able to analyze and summarize complex technical and contextual information
  • Fluent in English, reading writing and speaking. Fluency in Pushto language of the program implementation area will be preferred
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Team management skills
  • Ability to handle stress and pressure
  • Health related degree. MBBS degree (preferred)
  • Previous experience in training of psychosocial workers, project officers and volunteers
  • Knowledge or Experience in implementing MHPSS humanitarian programs
  • Knowledge or Experience in Protection and partners
  • Knowledge or Experience in Psychological First Aid (PFA), having a PFA certificate of trainer will be a strong asset
  • Previous experience with ACF is an asset
  • Local candidates will be preferred
