Job Summary: The Medical Technician is responsible for supporting clinical services by assisting in patient care, dispensing prescribed medicines, performing basic clinical procedures, and maintaining medical equipment and supplies. The role includes assisting medical staff in OPD, Emergency, and minor procedures, ensuring proper documentation, and maintaining infection prevention and control standards.
Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan, is looking for a competent PHC Technician/ Medical Technician-Male based at RHC Shagram, Upper-Chitral in Chitral Region.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Clinical Responsibilities:
- Assist Medical Officers in patient examination and treatment.
- Dispense medicines as prescribed by authorized medical staff.
- Prepare and maintain OPD and emergency rooms.
- Measure and record vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respiration).
- Assist in minor surgical procedures and wound dressing.
- Provide first aid and basic emergency care.
- Prepare patients for procedures and assist during examinations.
- Maintain patient flow and assist in triage where required.
B. Emergency & Procedure Support
- Assist during emergency cases and resuscitation procedures.
- Prepare emergency trays and ensure availability of supplies.
- Assist in wound management and minor procedures.
- Support patient referral processes when required.
C. Equipment & Facility Maintenance
- Maintain and ensure proper functioning of medical equipment.
- Clean and sterilize instruments after use.
- Report faulty equipment to the supervisor.
- Ensure readiness of equipment in OPD and emergency areas.
D. Infection Prevention & Control (IPC)
- Follow infection prevention and control protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned clinical areas.
- Dispose of medical waste according to standard procedures.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately.
E. Administrative Responsibilities:
- Maintain patient records and registers as assigned.
- Maintain stock registers for medicines and supplies.
- Assist in preparation of daily and monthly reports.
- Follow duty rosters and maintain punctuality.
F. Coordination & Teamwork:
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other staff.
- Assist in smooth functioning of OPD and emergency services.
- Participate in training sessions and staff meetings.
- Maintain professional behavior with patients and staff.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma in Medical Technology from a recognized institute with registration with relevant professional body (if required).
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience preferred, however, fresh graduates may also apply.
- Knowledge of basic clinical procedures.
- Possesses basic clinical certifications such as BLS/ACLS.
